Family Program at the Smith College Museum of Art: Follow the Flow Sunday, October 16, 2022, 1-3 pm
Explore rivers in art with SCMA Student Museum Educators in the galleries, paint watercolor droplets to take home, sign up for a Forbes Library card, and learn about the Mill Riverwalk kits created by educators Karen Bryant and Wendy Stein, available for loan from Forbes Library. Designed for ages 4-12 and their caregivers. This program will happen rain or shine! No registration required. Activities are ongoing at SCMA from 1-3 pm. |

Early Readers Book Club Tuesday, October 18, 4 pm
Join us to make a craft based on Fitz and Cleo by Jonathan Stutzman and Heather Fox! We will meet outside on the library lawn. In the event of inclement weather, we will meet in the community room and cap attendance at 30. Books are available in the children's department to check out. DA SOLA: With a Finger to the Wind Thursday, October 20, 2022, 6 pm
Presented by Laura Bellusci For over twenty-five years, Laura has traveled extensively da sola, or on her own, throughout much of the Italian peninsula: hiking the Dolomite Mountains, climbing volcanos, swimming in the warm waters of the Gulf of Naples—and of course, the food! In recent years, she has stayed mainly in the south and the islands. She last presented her travel stories at Forbes in 2017 and returns on October 20 with new stories that will captivate, inform and, hopefully, inspire. |

Magic the Gathering Club for Teens Thursday, October 6, 2022, 6:30 pm
Join us for a casual meetup for teens interested in MTG! Curious about learning how to play? Looking for other players? Don't have any cards? That's ok! Forbes will provide cards to use at the library.

Kids' Chess Club! Friday, October 21 & 28, November 4 & 18, 2022 4-5 pm
Join us for our new Kids' Chess Club! We'll be meeting Fridays from 4-5pm in the Community Room on Oct. 21 & 28 and Nov. 4 & 18. All levels are welcome, from beginners to experts! Learn the rules and how to use all of your pieces. For ages 9+. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult. First come, first served, and attendance will be limited to 14 people. |

Pumpkin Painting on the Lawn Saturday, October 22, 2022, 4-5 pm
We'll provide paint, pumpkins, glitter, googly eyes and other decorations--you bring your creativity! No registration required. For ages 3+.
In the event of rain. we'll move indoors to the Community Room and cap attendance at 30 people.

In collaboration with Lilly Library, beautifully refurbished newspaper boxes provide children, teens and adults access to free books in their neighborhoods. Boxes are replenished weekly by staff and volunteers, assuring that they remain neat, clean and easily accessible.
Businesses and organizations throughout Northampton, Leeds and Florence are invited to contact us about providing outdoor space on which to place a box. Patrons are encouraged to apply to replenish and care for one box each week.
