Join us on Forbes Library lawn for our Summer Reading Kickoff Party! This year's theme is "Find Your Voice." Sign up for our Summer Reading Program with a children's department staff member, enjoy mini ice cream cones, and have fun with bubbles, face painting, and sticker making!
Our special guest this year is Trevor the Games Man---he'll be out on the lawn from 10-11:30 doing running games, ribbon crafts, and stilt-walking!
Thank you to the Friends of the Forbes Library for sponsoring this event.
Every Tuesday afternoon, teens ages 12+ are invited to play our brand-new Nintendo Switch in the YA Room! We'll have enough controllers for 8 players at a time. Challenge your friends to a Mario Kart race, try out new games, and meet fellow gamers!
This program is for teens only; we'll have a separate game time for players under the age of 12.

Her body of work includes sixteen books, including the Blood Colony, The Living Blood, The Good House, Joplin’s Ghost, Devil’s Wake, and the forthcoming The Reformatory.
Flywheel returns to the Forbes Library Lawn for another season of shows. Bring a blanket, picnic, chair, and listen to some great music.

CHRISTA JOY You'll find Christa Joy at the twangy intersection between classic country and confessional folk. Known for her strong sense of melody, resonant storytelling and charming sincerity, Joy performs throughout New England with her band, "Christa Joy and the Honeybees." Her third full-length studio album, "Get On, Heart!" (June, 2019) was released to a sold out Parlor Room in Northampton, MA. The band has a new album set to be released in 2023.
OcCULT CLASSIC
OcCult Classic are the evil eye staring down the eclipse without flinching. They’re the apocalypse in a glass of hemlock. They’re serpentine sounds gouging petrified wood in a forest of unknown dimension. OcCult Classic are the alchemist’s pestle grinding at the void, the master magician in the astral desert, the snake at dawn. While mortals sleep, OcCult Classic conjure serrated ghosts in the knife drawer. Even mercury sheds its skin when the band reaches its destination at the hex’s nadir; this is where the lava in the lamp comes from.

Kids' Books Needed
for Neighborhood Free Book Boxes
We need picture books, board books, chapter books and YA books! Donations can be brought to the Children's Department at Forbes.
In collaboration with Lilly Library, beautifully refurbished newspaper boxes provide children, teens and adults access to free books in their neighborhoods. Boxes are replenished weekly by staff and volunteers, assuring that they remain neat, clean and easily accessible. Help us to keep these book boxes thriving!
In addition to this newsletter, we have several other lists you can sign up for to receive news about film programs at the library, new and bestselling books, local history events, and more.
