The Quakers Are Our Friends
Date: Thursday, April 6, 2023 Time: 10:00am-11:30am Speaker: Diana Crisman Smith - Professional Genealogist
Program Description: The Society of Friends was founded by George Fox in England in the mid-1600s. He preached that each individual has an “Inner Light” which allows for direct communication with God, eliminating the need for ministers. He also believed that every individual is responsible for his own actions and that all individuals are created equal. Their practices reflect these beliefs and provide a wonderful source for information about the lives of the individuals. We’ll look at the unique features of the faith, understand what is recorded, and discuss where records may be found.
