Bring your favorite journal, art materials or just pencil and paper. Green sketching can be nature journaling, urban sketching, mindful drawing, adding descriptive words to a sketch, or even doodling - whatever gets the pencil moving over the paper! This group is for all levels of skill and experience.
Led by Engineers from the American Society of Civil Engineers San Francisco, Younger Members Section
Make tin foil boats, gummy bear towers, paper airplanes, and a homemade water filtration system and learn about the engineering concepts behind those objects. Sign up for one workshop, or join us for all four!
Fun fact: this summer participants have really taken to the section where you can post your own review of what you've read. Librarians report that we have over 100 reviews already posted by patrons of all ages from age 3.5 on up!
Join your Library in celebrating some of the places that make Berkeley a great place to be!
Each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in July we will post clues about certain spots in Berkeley on the Library's Facebook and Instagram.
Each Monday we will post the reveal of the previous week’s locations PLUS include a list of library resources about that location to check out and enjoy.
If you visit any these spots, tag #BerkeleyPublicLibrary in your photos for a chance to win some fun prizes.
Updates on Library Services during Covid-19
“Although we’ve loved seeing you at Outdoor Pickup, talking to you on the Information phone line, and enjoying virtual programming together this past year... there is NOTHING like having our patrons back inside our Libraries!”
Staff teams are continuing to make plans for expanding hours and services. The teams are working in coordination with the City of Berkeley, Labor Unions and Public Health. Updates will be announced via this e-newsletter, on social media and on berkeleypubliclibrary.org.
