March Happenings at Berkeley Public Library
Director Search
The Board of Library Trustees is searching for a new Director of Library Services. Your input is imperative! Have you taken the survey? Paper versions of the survey are also available in all Library locations.

Teen Volunteers Wanted

It is critical for teens to weigh in on Library services, programs, and collections, especially as we look forward to a new, dedicated teen room as part of the Central Improvements Project now underway!

Please spread the news to the teens in your life: their voices are wanted here at the Library and they can accrue volunteer hours.

The Teen Advisory Board meets the 1st and the the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 4pm at Central. (Assure your teen that yes, there will be snacks)!

Why Hobbyists and Professionals Alike Head to Berkeley's Tool Lending Library

Library staff are particularly proud that the American Library Association (ALA) also featured the Tool Lending Library on their ilovelibraries.org website.

Reminder: the Culinary Collection at the Tool Lending Library will debut later this Spring.

Staff are using the input from over 1,600 responses to a recent community survey to curate the new culinary collection, which includes both tools and books.

Also, staff are busy planning all sorts of engaging culinary-minded programming to accompany opening day that celebrates the diversity of food culture here in Berkeley.

Thank you to the Berkeley Public Library Foundation for providing the funding for the debut of this new collection.

Authors Dinner

The Berkeley Public Library Foundation hosted over 240 guests at its annual Authors Dinner in February.

Honorary Chair author Michael Lewis was among the literary stars celebrated that evening. The gala featured a lively meet-the-authors reception, an epicurean meal with an honored author at each table, and a program introducing all 24 authors.
Check out the photo gallery.

Proceeds from the event support Library innovations, building improvements, and literacy projects.
