Things are changing very rapidly and in KFLA area we now find ourselves in the yellow zone with an increasing total of active COVID-19 cases everyday. If you are not already following KFLA Public Health website or Facebook, I would encourage you to do so.
Given this increase in COVID cases in our area as well as in areas surrounding us (Toronto, Ottawa), please give significant pause and consideration to where you have been, who you have been exposed to, your own personal infection control strategies as well as your own personal health and finally the necessity of your in-person visit into the Home. Could you consider coming less frequently? Could you consider a virtual visit for the majority of your visits mixed with in person visits? We really want to keep everyone safe and healthy and appreciate all of your support through this pandemic.
It is imperative that all individuals coming into the Home are following all of the guidelines provided to them when they visit. Essential caregivers taking residents out to the front garden area or outside space need to be mindful that they are keeping their foot traffic in the hallways to a minimum. Wearing your mask over your nose and mouth is essential at all times.
We have been working on a virtual video tour of the John M Parrott Centre given the restrictions associated with actually engaging in live tours of the Home. This has presented significant difficulties and barriers especially for people who are unfamiliar with the Home or are out of our area. Here is the tour. We hope you like it and find it helpful, especially for those of you who have never been in our Home.
We are very happy to be having our Fall Fair today and will certainly share some pictures tonight onto the County Facebook page but will have them in our newsletter next week for you to enjoy as well.
If this is your first time reading our newsletter, I would encourage you to go to this link where you will find the previous newsletters should you wish to view them. Should you ever not want to receive these newsletters, please follow the prompts on the newsletter at the bottom to unsubscribe.
Have a good weekend,

COVID-19 Testing for Visitors & Caregivers
The Napanee Assessment Centre is no longer accepting drop-ins for testing. Everyone must book an appointment.
Due to the increase in demand for this service it will be very important for you to plan to allow yourself at least 6 days to ensure you maintain a current COVID test. This will be the minimum time required to allow for a return call to book your appointment, attend your appointment and then wait for the results.
Who must have a negative COVID test every 2 weeks?
All caregivers and visitors coming inside the Home
All visitors visiting outside who are not physically distanced
You will need to call a COVID-19 assessment center to book your COVID-19 swab test and have it completed. It will take approximately 72 hours to obtain your results. The number for the Napanee Assessment Centre held at the Lenadco Complex (across the road from JMPC) is 613-354-8254. Other COVID assessment centers are available near you. The link to access your results for this testing is here.
IMPORTANT
If you, or anyone in your household, (or anyone who would be
interacting with the resident while they are out), feel unwell at all,
please postpone your outing with the resident.
Perishable Items: Food being brought in for a resident must be in a container that can be wiped down with our wipes and they will then be delivered to your resident right away. All other items will be kept for 24 hours prior to being taken to the resident.
