This notice will hopefully provide further clarity as to our plans related to inside visits at the JMPC. We have received a number of calls and emails over the past 24 hours so hopefully this will help everyone.
Outdoor Visits: No COVID-19 test required for all outdoor visits. Your own facial covering is required and physical distancing remains in place. Booking is still required for these visits. 2 people at a time can visit with one resident.
Zoom Visits: No change to this service.
Window Visit: These will no longer be booked commencing Monday July 27 2020. This will allow us to focus our staff efforts on the indoor/outdoor and zoom visits. All pre-booked window visits will be converted to indoor visits commencing July 27. You are still free to continue visiting at the windows that don’t require booking or staff assistance.
Indoor Visit: 2 people at a time can visit with one resident (Visitors must be over 18 years old). You must pass a screening tool which includes having your temperature taken upon each visit. You will sign a Pledge confirming you are in agreement with your responsibilities as a visitor. You must wear a mask (that we will provide) during your entire visit. No Pets. All visitors coming into the Home must be swabbed within 2 weeks of each visit. You will need to call a COVID-19 assessment center to book your COVID-19 swab test and have it completed. It will take approximately 48-72 hours to obtain your results. The number for the Napanee Assessment Centre held at the Lenadco Complex (across the road from JMPC) is 613-354-8254. Other COVID assessment centers are available near you. The link to access your results for this testing can be found here. The Home will have you verbally confirm you have been tested and have had a negative result in the past 2 weeks.
Verbal Attestation of COVID Test: This is causing the residents a lot of anxiety. They want to ensure that visitors are acutely aware of the level of trust being placed on visitors to ensuring that this COVID test is conducted and the negative results have been obtained by every visitor coming into the Home. Their lives are counting on you!
No Physical Contact: This one is going to be hard but it is important that you not touch your loved one. Physical contact with a resident would require us to contact Public Health and place the resident on isolation.
Not Feeling Well: If you are not feeling well prior to your visit, please cancel and reschedule for another day. If you feel sick after your visit please contact the Home and speak to an RN or Emily Sarley (Ext 7227) to advise so we can ensure the appropriate precautions are put into place quickly.
Hand Hygiene: This is crucial. Please ensure you do this prior to putting your mask on and after you remove your mask.
Lilac Knoll Residents: We will be bringing these residents out to MacDonald Hall for their visits wherever possible. We may need to have special visiting arrangements developed which we will review on a case by case situation. Please book your visit using the same picktime online tool.
See you soon,
