Celebrate your family history in October! Residents can either come by the library to pick up a starter packet of genealogy worksheets or have a set emailed to them: Click here to request the worksheets via email. You can also check the library's website and social media during the month for ideas to celebrate in your home. Come to the library for help getting started with your family history! Tuesday, October 12, 2021 Steve Benton with "Financial Security for Seniors" 6:30 p.m. - Lite bites | 7 p.m. - Program begins UP Public Library's 3rd Floor Community Room Steve Benton helps older adults avoid the dangers of financial uncertainty and exploitation as an Elder Financial Safety Coach and Counselor at The Senior Source. He specializes in complex cases, including fraud, scams and elder financial abuse. Steve has been active in the financial services industry for over forty years. Exciting news -- The Friends of UP Public Library has reopened its used bookstore in Snider plaza! The shop, located at 6916 Snider Plaza, is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. through December 18. Purchase their gently used, donated books to add to your own personal library, or gift them to friends and family during the holiday season! Your purchase at Second Chapter Bookstore helps to support the UP Public Library.

The new series on Amazon, The Underground Railroad, is based on the 2016 Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name by Colson Whitehead. We have this title in print, along with eBook and audio book formats on Libby. There are also several study guides and analyses of the book available on hoopla, our streaming service. The Wheel of Time on Amazon starts on November 19; there's still time to read the first three or four eBooks in the series on Libby!

Season three of You on Netflix is coming soon; read or listen to the book by Caroline Kepner to refresh your memory, available on Libby and hoopla. Finally, The Lost Symbol on Peacock is based on Dan Brown's novel; we have the print version in the library, and the eBook and audio book formats on Libby.

Our app, UPTXLIB, puts the library catalog and your account information on your smartphone! You can even link multiple cards to keep track of your family's materials. Once you've logged into the app, all you need to bring to the library to check out is your smartphone! Planet Library: the Library App for Kids Using the Planet Library app, kids can search the catalog, learn how to use the library, play fun & educational games, and check out from their smart phone or tablet. Download from your app store and use the Library ID UPTX to find us, then log in with your child's library card number and PIN (the last four numbers on their card).
