All volunteers must be properly trained (or re-trained) before they can help out. This includes individuals who have volunteered with us in the past. For volunteer training, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator with the Friends of the UP Public Library, Amy Wesner, at amywesner@sbcglobal.net. In the email, include your name, age, volunteer group or school, and grade (if applicable).

French Exit, which is available on Apple TV, is an adaptation of the witty social satire of the same name by Patrick Dewitt. We have the book in the library, and the audiobook is available for download on our Libby app. Romance entuhsiasts will enjoy the Netflix adaptation of Jojo Moyes' The Last Letter from Your Lover, starring Shailene Woodley. Also available on Netflix is the period drama Effie Gray, based on a real-life event and people; read more about it in the biography of Lady Gray, Effie: the Passionate Lives of Effie Gray, John Ruskin, and John Everett Millais by Suzanne Fagence Cooper. A new version of Dune is coming to theaters and HBO Max in October. It's powerfully packed with acting talent - Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa and many others. Start reading the series by Frank Herbert now to prepare; we have it in several formats. PBS fans have probably watched the Inspector Lynley series, which is adapted from the mystery novels by Elizabeth George. We have many of them here at the library in multiple formats.
