An estimated gap of $177,000 remains to start construction.

We wanted to let you know the good news! As of June 12, the new Cranbury Public Library and Community Center design and site plan is completed and approved by the Township Committee. The Library Board of Trustees, architects, engineers and planners have dotted every “i” and crossed every “t.” Now with detailed documents approved by Cranbury Township, the project is officially out to bid!
As you know, the Cranbury Public Library Foundation and Library Board have been working toward this goal for several years. Thanks to dedicated volunteers and YOUR strong support, we are almost at the finish line: the Foundation has raised almost $2.6 MM from over 700 donors. This amount is only $177,000 below the estimated construction costs. Our final task is to make sure we have the funding in place to begin construction. We are planning to raise this amount before the bids are opened in a public meeting on Wednesday, July 26 in the library.
Starting this weekend, we are doing a town-wide mailing to all residents that will encourage participation in the Community Walk of Knowledge brick program, our big push to close the gap on the final construction costs. We are paving the path to our future – one brick at a time. Already 65 residents and local businesses have claimed their brick as a visible symbol of their support of the new Public Library and Community Center. Now is the time to purchase a personalized brick and help us open our doors to a new era in Cranbury’s history.
How can you help us to cross the finish line?
Buy a brick (or two!). If you haven’t already done so, you can purchase a “champion” brick (8” X 8”) for $1000 and select up to six lines of text, to recognize a business or family member, honor a loved one, or include your favorite quote. A “citizen” brick (4” X 8”) is also available for $500 and has space for up to three lines of text. You can place a brick order at the library or on the Foundation Website at www.CranburyLibraryFoundation.org or by stopping by the library with a check. (Pro Tip: you can buy a brick now, and choose the inscription later once you’ve settled on the perfect wording).
Encourage a neighbor to join the program. Especially in a small town like Cranbury, people like to hear that their neighbors and friends are participating in a campaign. Suggest an interesting brick inscription for a neighbor, to honor their family member or remind them that they can feature their favorite quote.
Consider increasing your donation to the donor wall or named gift. Donors of $5,000 or more will be featured in the library gallery area. There are also still named gifts available starting at $10,000.
