Summer is Here Middlesex County Library is excited to welcome you to our 2021 Summer Learning program. Tales and Trails is about celebrating our love of reading and our love of the outdoors. Our hope is to help you rediscover the simple pleasures of both a good book and the wonders of nature. Unless otherwise stated, the programs listed are for ages 12-17.

3D Printer Challenge Monday July 5, 7:00 pm
Join us on Facebook for a 3D Printer Challenge! The first person to correctly guess what object our Ultimaker 2+ printer is creating wins the object and a prize package. For ages 7-17. A Facebook account is required to participate, a parent or guardian's account can enter on behalf of a participant.

The Write Your Book Workshop Wednesdays, 6:30 pm
Time to have a 'Write Your Book' summer! That's right - a whole book! Join author Casey Lyall and other teen writers on Zoom as you learn how to brainstorm your idea, outline your story, and work toward finishing your novel. Chat with other writers your age and share your work (if you want to!) while learning how to provide feedback for others. Join us and get that book written!

Museum of Ontario Archaeology Spotlight with Katie Urban Tuesday July 13, 6:30 pm Join Katie Urban from the Museum of Ontario Archaeology on Zoom for an introduction to archaeology in Southern Ontario, the history of the museum site and items that have been discovered.

Intro to Laser-Cutting Design Thursday July 22, 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Learn graphic design basics and create your own masterpiece! Create your own design during our interactive Zoom session, then pick-up the laser cut final product at curbside. Participants will need access to a computer or laptop (not a smart phone or tablet) to participate in this program.

Zany Zoom Tues July 20, 6:30 pm
Why just Zoom when you could Zany Zoom? Join us for an evening of fun playing the most ridiculous games over Zoom. Plus, you could win a prize!

Hooray for Harry Tuesday July 27, 6:30 pm An evening on Zoom filled with games and activities to celebrate our favourite boy who lived. There will also be prizes!

Tales & Trails: Snapshots Submissions accepted July 5-3
Submit your original photo of a 'tale' or a trail to be featured on our social media! All participants will be entered into a random prize draw. Open to youth and adults.

Tales & Trails: Poetry Walk Saturday Mornings, July 10 - August 14 Take a leisurely walk through a local trail while enjoying that week's selection of poetry or a short story. Registration will be required each week to receive the location information; the number of participants may be limited to align with provincial guidelines. Open to youth and adults.

2021 Reading Challenge Read a book in each of our 12 categories during 2021 for a chance to win! The challenge is open to Middlesex County Library cardholders of all ages. Books of any format and length can be used. Learn more and download the form on our website.

Summer Trivia Extravaganza Every Sunday, from noon until midnight Sundays at noon we post the link to a brand new Kahoot quiz on our Facebook page and Twitter account (you don't need an account to participate). Share the link and challenge your friends; we post the full results Monday morning. Winners get bragging rights!

Poster of Change July 5 - August 14 Create your own poster that conveys a message of change. What are you passionate about? What changes would you like to see in your community? Let's spread positivity and kindness in Middlesex County. All participants will be entered into a prize draw, and we'll feature the photos on our social media.
