I listened to the audiobook version of this, read by Leslie Odom, Jr. himself. It's a memoir loaded with words of wisdom that any risk-averse reader would benefit from, and listening to Odom read was an absolute delight. While I had seen him in a handful of TV shows prior to his breakout performance as Aaron Burr in Hamilton, I knew very little about most of his acting career or about the massive leap of faith he took in order to be a part of Lin-Manuel Miranda's groundbreaking musical. The wives of Los Alamos : a novel by TaraShea NesbitThis is a fictionalized account of the experiences of women married to the scientists working on the Manhattan Project. Rather than focus on just one or two wives, the author's descriptions offer a glimpse of what life was like for the women from very different backgrounds and in different phases of their lives. It explores what it was like to raise a family in a town that did not officially exist while their husbands worked on a project that did not officially exist. This is not a story, but rather a compilation of experiences and personalities brought together in an unlikely way through shared challenges. Reviewed by Cindy, Library Assistant
