General Announcements

We thank the Howland Family for their generous donation of a bench to the Library in memory
of their mother Ellie Howland. It is a quiet place to sit and view the community garden and
our giraffe. She was a long-time resident of Bedminster and a great reader
who loved the library. The bench was donated through the
Bedminster Township Bench Donation. Program.

March's Sunday Programs

BARRY THOMSON ON CLARENCE DILLON THE MAN

Our library's namesake is too little known to too many of us. Barry, our matchless local historian, recounts Clarence Dillon's life and accomplishments on the national, international, and of course our local stage...on the latter sharing some remembrances provided by Dillon's family descendants in our area. Clarence Dillon was born 1882 in San Antonio, Texas and died in 1979 in Far Hills.

Considering the gray palette of the skies lately, I am most grateful to be spending my time researching colorful art topics for our events. So far this year we have explored the world of the Impressionists and had a very detailed lecture on Berthe Morisot. Next up will the the Post- Impressionists and the "Belle of Venice", collector extraordinaire, Peggy Guggenheim.

Thursday, March 2 @ 12pm we'll screen a documentary with an overview of what followed the Impressionist revolution. Cezanne, Seurat, Gauguin and VanGogh, continued to innovate and reveal new forms of expression which would then lead into the modernism of the twentieth century.

In Person | Cost is $20 (includes luncheon) | Register Here

Thursday, March 16 @ 12pm Peggy picks up the story in the twentieth century. Her illustrious surname aside, Peggy, prodigious lover of art and artists, compiled a collection of modern art with $40,000. that would be worth millions today. Her gorgeous Venetian palazzo which is now her museum, is a tribute to vision and passion and just plain smarts.
