The Richards Memorial Library collects fines on overdue materials. Most of these fines are five cents per day. Movies are one dollar per day. Many people are aware that fines at this library can be paid in canned or dried food rather than in cash (but we're happy to take cash, too). This food is collected from the library, usually once a week, and then is distributed to our neighbors who are in need. The agency that gives the food away is Lenore's Pantry operating out of the Board of Health office in Town Hall. The Town Nurse, Anne-Marie Fleming, is in charge of the program. Unlike many libraries in the area, the Richards Memorial runs this program year 'round and not just Thanksgiving. The result is that at least one thousand full grocery bags of dried and canned food are added to the shelves of the pantry each year. Thank you for using this library and supporting your neighbors this way.

Book Sale: September 25-27!
Donations have been coming in fast and furious with a lot of really nice books. Please keep them coming as you make room on your shelf for books you'll buy at the book sale. The sale will be at the Masonic Lodge across from Town Hall. Friends' Night is Thursday, September 25, with Friday and Saturday open to the general public. You can join the Friends on Thursday night or at the Library. We are still in need of Banana boxes to store and sort the donations up at LeStage House. If you would like to bring your donations right up there, we are usually sorting there Wednesday mornings from 8 am to about 9:30. Consider donating raffle items as well, which can be brought directly to the Library.
