North Attleborough has lost one its best and brightest. Richard Sherman died on December 31, 2018. Dick was a truly engaged man who served his community in many capacities. Those of us, like me, who have been around long enough, had the pleasure and honor to know him when he was a trustee of this library. He also served on the library’s Building Committee in the 2000s. And the list goes on. He also served on the School Committee and the Millennium Committee. His book, North Attleborough, an Affectionate History, is still the first place any one of us covering reference will turn to when a question about the town comes along. Our sympathy goes to Nancy Sherman and his family. And our respect and affection endures for a life well lived.

The Library is again taking part in the Boston Bruins PJ Drive in conjunction with Cradles to Crayons. The pajamas -- for babies through teens -- will go to benefit children through the Department of Children and Families. In honor of our 125th anniversary, our goal is 125 sets of pajamas by the end of February.

According to the annual report of 1933 there were several exhibits at the library. "One was an interesting collection of rare shells loaned by Miss Marjorie Furbish. Mr. Albert Totten assembled an extensive group of American postage stamps." To celebrate this part of our history we invite people to sign up to bring their collection — stamps, coins, pokemon cards, dolls, frogs, walking canes, comic books — to the library on Saturday, March 16, at 1 pm and everyone else to come to talk with the collectors and share their enthusiasm. The snow day will be Saturday, March 23. We need people to register so we can put out enough tables. "If I were to show my collection," explained Maggie Holmes, " I would display my Laurel Burch cat items."
