I have been asked many times: when is the town going to get a new library? The Board of Trustees and I went through a design and construction grant process between 2001 to 2006. That was ultimately unsuccessful because of site issues (the parcel of land was owned by the town, but the library would not have been visible from the road. The state's position was that if you couldn't see the library from the street, then no dice.) Earlier this month the library was awarded another design grant for $50,000. This will allow the library to hire an architect and a library consultant to help design a new library for the town. The goal is that the new library will meet the needs of the town into the future. The process begins again; let's hope that this time the outcome is different.
