The Richards Memorial Library will celebrate its 125th anniversary this year. The library was built in honor of Edmund Ira and Lucy Richards by their children. The Richards children sold the building to the town of North Attleborough for $1.00 with the stipulation that the building was to continue functioning as a library. There will be changing displays in the library throughout the year focusing on different decades that have passed since the library opened its doors in 1894. There will be a bigger, musical celebration of the library later in the summer of 2019.

The library is undertaking a new Long Range Plan to determine service goals for the next five years. Later this month a survey will be e-mailed to all recipients of this newsletter and will be available in hard copy at the library. Responses to this anonymous survey will be compiled and help the trustees and staff determine where to focus in the future on meeting our customers’ needs. Please fill out the survey and return it to the library by February 28. Thank you.

- Annual Book Pot Luck will be at 11 am on Saturday, Feb. 2. Participants have a chance to share recommendations of good books with the group while sharing a pot luck lunch. Give your book suggestions to Maggie by January 18. Many of the recommendations become book discussion books!
