As we enter November, thoughts turn to Thanksgiving. The celebration of our blessings also brings to mind the challenges that can face some of our neighbors. Currently there are 155 households receiving assistance from Lenore’s Pantry, a food bank operating out of Town Hall by volunteers who are supervised by Anne-Marie Fleming, North Attleborough’s wonderful town nurse. The Pantry relies upon donated items that are distributed to families and individuals in true need. It’s a vital service to vulnerable members of our community. Throughout the year the Richards Memorial Library accepts canned and dried food as well as toiletries such as soap and tooth paste in lieu of money for library fines. These are delivered to the Pantry. Please be mindful of this alternative as a way of helping your neighbors. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving.

The Library will hold its 4th Local Author Fair on Saturday, November 4, from 2 to 4 pm. Authors from around the area will be on hand to talk about their books, to answer questions and to sell copies of their books. This year’s lineup includes D. L. Armillei, Gabrielle Landry, William D. Richards, Marcia Casey, Christine Zaniboni, Glede Kabongo, Stephen Théberge, Cathy Symons, Karen Silberman and Ken Garlick. Gabrielle Landry is our youngest participant this year, a 16 year old student, writer and speaker. She even did a TEDx Talk, entitled "The Power of Perspective," at Burlington High School in Burlington, MA and has just published her first book of poetry.
