Aside from reading, what are your hobbies or interests?

Interests are cooking and raising my children to be responsible, caring adults.

How does HCPL make a difference in your life?

How much space can I use? We have seven people in our house and we all use the library. We get favorite holiday books (even those “beneath” our reading level) at every holiday to help us celebrate that season. We get books on tape and movies for trips. We get books on tape for my husband’s daily commute, movies for an open Saturday or Sunday night, young adult novels, books for fun, books for required school/summer reading, cookbooks, junior biographies, magazines for mom and dad and children. During the summer we may come just to “take a break.” I come to the library once a week and even if I only get one book, it’s worth the trip. I love the staff and the atmosphere at Evelyn Meador.

I enjoy reading how-to books that I can learn from. Biographies and history books are also always interesting.

Some of my favorite authors would have to be Mitch Albom, Angela Johnson, and Carmen Lomas Garza. Although they all have different styles, I read something I could relate to in their books.

What books are you currently recommending to others?

I am currently recommending a book a patron recommended to me. It’s called Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife. I started reading it, but I couldn’t catch up with the due date. So I requested the audio form of the book and it was great and very convenient. It was also my very first audio book.

My all time favorite book is The Little Red Hen; the moral of the story is one you can always relate to.
