The Evelyn Meador Library and the Harris County Public Library and its staff members wish you and your family a Happy Holiday and prosperous New Year! This year we aimed to enhance what we offer our customers at the library. We began with your help on the Beautification Project in April and topped off the changes with the grand opening of a new iMaker Space in December. In a short year, we made good progress to bring you a better library. We want to show you some of what has been happening at the library this year. Take a look at some of the fun things we did in 2016 by clicking on the links below. 2016 Programs provided: Adult 114 Children 307 Teens 261 Computer 222 ESL/Literacy 659 Citizenship 16 |

Friends of Evelyn Meador Volunteer Appreciation and Holiday Party a Big Success! On December 12th, the Friends of Evelyn Meador Board of Directors hosted a gathering to recognize all Friends volunteers for their support throughout the year. A time to gather is always an enjoyable time to see old friends, meet new ones and catch up on events. We had a great turnout and lots of goodies to eat. Thanks to Kathy Viscariello and Angelo’s Restaurant for the wonderful Italian food! Learn more about the Friends of Evelyn Meador Library by clicking on the photo or stop by the library bookstore. On behalf of the Board, we wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! |

"Tweens and Teens in 2017! We’re looking forward to a great year at Evelyn Meador, and we have many exciting resources and programs for our ever-growing tween and teen patrons! For starters, we’ll be reviving our very popular chess club (every other Tuesday, 4-5pm), and we encourage all ages to try their hand at this ultimate game of strategy. Do you play Magic the Gathering, Pokémon, or Dungeons and Dragons? Come join our dynamic Evelyn Meador Gaming Club (Thursdays 4:30-5:30pm). At Evelyn Meador Library we’re a part of the “Tech” age and the NASA community, so we embrace this culture wholeheartedly. As such, we will be offering fun and innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) and maker crafts every month in the coming year. We are very excited about the opening of our new iMaker space. It is a community oriented maker space with a 3D printer, sewing machine, fun Lego wall, video equipment, and unlimited possibilities for future resources that promise to both challenge and entertain you. And as always we offer a huge collection of Teen and Tween books and access to the entire 26 branches of the Harris County Public Library system. So, if you can’t find that particular book you want on our shelves, ask for one of our great staff members to put it on hold for you. We’ll also be offering cultural programs to celebrate our diverse and vibrant neighbors through music, crafts, and the arts. Read a book, craft, write a story, sit back and enjoy an after school movie with popcorn, join a scavenger hunt, learn how to code -- the possibilities for Tweens and Teens are endless at your Evelyn Meador Library! Remember, we have Math and Science homework help every Tuesday & Thursday starting at 3:30 pm! | | |

After reading a book, Ms. Pearson brings out the toys for the little ones to play with. Since it’s also beneficial for unborn children to hear music and rhythm, if you are expecting and would like to join us we’d be delighted to have your company. Drop by on Wednesdays at 10:15 am. Toddler Time is for children aged 18 months to 3 years old. It is a program for children and their parents or caregivers featuring songs, stories, finger plays, music and movement! We offer two Toddler Time sessions each week: Mondays at 11 am with Ms. Amy and Wednesdays at 11 am with Ms. Pearson. Preschool Story time is held weekly on Tuesdays at 10:30 am. We share picture books, music, movement and lots and lots of fun! While the program is geared toward children 3-6 years old, younger and older siblings are always welcome.
