March into Reading Festival is March 6
Children between the ages of 0-6 need basic early literacy skills to become good readers. To learn more about how your child can master these skills, visit the second annual March into Reading Festival.
The festival is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the Union Township Branch Library, 4450 Glen Este-Withamsville Road. Call 528-1744.
Children's activity stations will highlight the basic practices of writing, reading, playing and exploring math and science to get ready to read. Joel the Singing Librarian will demonstrate the importance of singing and early literacy. Children can meet the library's mascot Browser. There will be prizes awarded for visiting the various stations as well as door prizes. All ages are welcome.
Children’s book authors will be on hand to discuss the importance of reading. She started writing to give her three children something they liked to read.

Seven-year-old Lauryn Marie Burks was trying to get ready for school one day wishing she had 100 hands to get everything done. Her parents recorded her ideas about how those 100 hands would help and turned them into the books, My 100 Hands and My 100 Hands Go To School.
A Xavier University graduate, Ashley Scribner taught and pursued her art career before moving to New York City, where she fell in love with the urban lifestyle. She returned to Cincinnati and specializes in painting Queen City landmarks. She recently illustrated her first children's book, Findlay: A Cincinnati Pig Tale.
