Writing ContestNow is the time to write the short story that’s been inside your head for some time. And the Clermont County Public Library has the perfect encouragement.
The Teen and Adult Short Story Contest is open Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. First- and second-place prizes will be awarded to teens age 11 to 17 and to adults ages 18 and up.
Short stories should be 700 to 1,000 words long. Special attention should be paid to spelling and grammar, story structure, appropriate and effective use of language and the story should have an imaginative approach. Stories with explicit sexual content and/or violence will be disqualified.
Email stories as a Word document to
info@clermontlibrary.org no later than midnight Oct. 31. All entries are final; no revisions will be permitted once the short stories are submitted. Include your name, age, address, email address and phone number when submitting your short story.
Winners will be announced Dec. 6 and the winning stories may be published on the library’s website.
Judges will not know the names of writers until after choosing winners.
So sharpen those pencils and grab a clean sheet of paper – or pull up a clean virtual sheet of paper on your computer screen – and start writing.
