See the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder. A traveling display from the historic home and museum in Mansfield, Missouri, will be at the Amelia Branch (Monday-Saturday, August 1-23, during library hours). The panel exhibit offers information and images from her life and travels. Call the branch at 752-5580 for more information or to register for one of the events. In celebration of the exhibit, we're having Laura Ingalls Wilder and pioneer themed events during the entire month of August.

We're celebrating Laura's half-birthday on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 4:00 p.m. Attendees ages 6-12 are invited to celebrate in pioneer style with games, treats and crafts. Register by visiting or calling the branch or register online. Bring your family to our Pioneer Times with the Heritage Village Museum from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 12. Join us for Fiddler Fun from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19. Help us welcome local fiddler, Kitty McIntyre! Ms. McIntyre's love for bluegrass music started in the 80's. Having recorded two solo albums, she is currently working on her third instrumental project for recording. Her musical performance will be sure to please audiences of all ages. Join us for our Homeschool Hangout: Live Like a Pioneer at 11 a.m., Friday, August 22. Could you live in pioneer times? Learn how the Ingalls and families like them lived: churn your own butter, make a doll, and decide what to pack in your wagon. visit the branch or call to register or register online. Bring the family to a special Pioneer Craft event at 6 p.m., Tuesday, August 26. Attendees will create a cornhusk doll and miniature patchwork quilts.
