Happy New Year!
In many cultures, January is a time of renewal and change. I spent one January in Bolivia, where local children spend the first few moments of the month running around carrying away the symbolic baggage of the old year in family luggage, while screaming at the top of their lungs to frighten away whatever might blight the year ahead.
Later in the month, families clean their houses thoroughly and purge anything that is no longer useful.
Like the families of Bolivia, researchers must clear out what's not needed every now and then. As you clear away the clutter on your desk or computer, I think you'll find that what remains will be more valuable and useful. You may even discover some forgotten treasurers!
Please note that genealogy programs at JTPL will continue to meet at 11 on Saturdays through February in order to avoid asking patrons to travel during dark, icy winter evenings.
