Director's Corner Miranda Johnson The Most Wonderful Time of the Year! Thank you to Staples for one of the most iconic commercials ever, the back to school commercial the most wonderful time of the year. Parents love it, kids not so much. At the library, we love back to school time. After facilitating a summer reading program for 781 children this summer, we are happy to take a back-seat role and support families, children, and teachers to have the best school year ever!

Christmas Market Vendors Wanted Christmas time is coming fast! It's that time to start thinking about our upcoming Library Christmas Market. Are you a craftsman or owner of a small business? Then the Strathmore Library Christmas Market is just for you! The library is hosting its Annual Library Christmas Market on Saturday, November 16 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. What makes our market unique is your vendor fees & requested product donations go towards the library's fundraising efforts! Twenty tables are available this year. The cost is $20.00 for tables without power and $25.00 for tables with power. Table fee includes 1 table, 2 chairs, and online vendor advertising. All vendors are required to donate one item for a silent auction at a later date. Registration opens September 9 at 10:00 am and must be done in person at the library. Registration closes at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 25. |

Paint Pouring Class Fundraiser
Friday, September 20, 7:00pm-9:00pm
Unleash your creativity with Acrylic Paint Pouring! Join Carmen as she teaches you how to create a special funnel pour picture. Participants get to choose their own 3 colours. Registration is now open, so to reserve your spot, please register in person at the Strathmore Municipal Library. Open to participants 16 years and up. Limit of 24 participants. All proceeds will go to help continue programs and services for the library. PLEASE REGISTER BY 5:00PM ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th.

Friday Fun Film
Friday, September 20, 1:00pm-3:00pm
If you love the first movie, then you’ll love the second one! Join us as we watch The Secret Life of Pets 2 at our first Friday Fun Film of the school year! Rated G. At the end of the film we will draw for one lucky participant to take the movie home with them! Participants will be treated to popcorn and drinks! This program is free to attend and no registration is required.

Healthy Brains=Healthy Children Ways We Can Build Healthy Children & Teens Thursday, September 19, 10:30am-12:00pm Before High School graduation, one third of adolescent girls will experience depression, anxiety disorders, self harm, or an eating disorder. At Juno House (www.junohouse.ca) we believe in the extraordinary healing power of parents and caregivers. We believe that you can learn all the skills that you need to become your teen's emotional coach. We believe that talking does not grow neurons; experience grows neurons. We will share steps and strategies from the Juno House Therapeutic Model that will give you effective emotional coaching tools for your children as they develop through adolescence and into young adulthood. |

Carmen ErisonThe library welcomes back Assistant Director, Carmen Erison for September's art exhibition and sale. About the Artist Carmen Erison is an Alberta artist who creates acrylic fluid paintings. Born and raised in St. Paul, Alberta, Carmen currently resides in Calgary. Her art pursuits began 5 years ago where she began by painting various landscapes and animals. In November 2018, she discovered the world of fluid art and life has never been the same!
