This free app for iPhone and iPad takes an old song and makes it new again. Kids 2-5 years old will enjoy tapping and swiping as they make the animals on MacDonald's Farm do things they've never done before. Each page encourages interaction and movement. To add to the fun, children can record themselves singing the familiar song, or listen to it played in 5 different languages or with 4 different instruments. The best part of all... this app is absolutely free! Khan Academy recently partnered with award-winning app developer, Duck Duck Moose, to provide all their apps for free. DDM offers both Android and Apple options. Reviewed by Alanna

Are you overwhelmed by all the information about children's technology use? Leading researchers and writers in the field, Lisa Guernsey and Michael H. Levine, provide parents, educators, and librarians with informational and purposeful content for helping children develop reading skills in a 21st century environment. Their book delivers an accessible and evidence-based appraisal of how to assess, understand, and use digital resources and tools (eBooks, apps, and websites) that empower literacy and nurture developmentally appropriate learning. This book is available as a free eBook on PPLD's Cybershelf and is also available to check out in print. Reviewed by Tiffany
