Maker in Residence: Knit a Flat Striped Scarf Have you always wanted to learn to knit, but never found the time or teacher? Here's your opportunity! Maker in Resident Linda Riley will show participants how to get started with common stitches and how to read a scarf pattern, so you can practice your new skill with yarn and needles to take home! From Mind to Film: The Pre-production/ Production Process From Mind to Film will focus on some of the basic elements, techniques, and chronological steps needed to create a professional video product. We will discuss the pre-production process and the importance of the message as developed through script, shot-sheet, and storyboard. We will also focus on the elements that distract and those that enhance the production through framing, audio, lighting, environment, and other techniques. Through visual, animated, and audio examples, this beginners course will teach you the steps needed to kick-start your production into full gear and to completion. Registration is required.

Drop-in Painting Amateur artists are invited to MAKE @ East to experiment with watercolors (watercolor paints, watercolor crayons, and watercolor pencils!) at this fun and informal drop-in program. We’ll supply the brushes, paint, and paper; just bring yourself and a friend! Ages 9 and up. Ages 9-11 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required.

After School Adventures Join us after school to experiment with art and science! For school age children 5-12 years old with a favorite adult. Spirographs Light up Circuit Valentines When in the Makerspace, children ages 11 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. No registration is required.

Art Adventures @ East Join us in creating a fun art project! Joint program between the ERC and MAKE @ East. Ages 4-7. Parents and caregivers are expected to attend. Registration is required.

Pansy Needlecase Join us in stitching a special treat for yourself. This class will explore thread painting, padding techniques, and ribbon and bead embellishments using cotton floss, perle cotton, overdyed, and metallic threads on white linen. A lovely pink pansy, surrounded by buds, violets, and ribbon forget-me-nots, decorates the front of the case. Plump buds tied with gold are stitched on the inner fold, and your embellished initial is worked onto the back. This case is lined with a print of your choice (fabric provided), complete with pockets for tools and needle storage, and bound with matching bias tape. When you register, you are registering for all of the dates listed above (4 Sunday sessions from February 17 - March 10). Commitment to all 4 classes is required for completion of the needlecase.

No Sew Book Covers Book covers are a great way to replace old or damaged book jackets. This craft will make cloth book covers using fabric and fusible interfacing. The library will provide the fabric, the interfacing, and scissors. Join us with a book that needs a new cover, learn a new craft, or to have fun! Preserving Fruit: Jam Making Class Learn how to make and preserve flavorful frozen fruit such as blueberries. Feel confident and proud to give your homemade fruit jam to friends and family! During this course, you will learn tested and research-based techniques to safely can jams, covering water bath canning basics to ensure safe preservation. Ages 16 and up. Registration is required.

Have fun with art! Bring your creativity to this monthly gathering. Local artist and instructor Deb Ross will be on hand to help inspire. Bring whatever project you are currently working on to work in a group setting. Each month will also feature an optional planned activity. Some drawing supplies will be provided.
