Fundamentals of Photography |
Simone Severo is a professional photographer and published author A Portrait a Day: One Photographer's Journey. She has been teaching photography workshops for almost 10 years and is one of the original founders and co-organizer of The Colorado Springs Creative Photography Group. This month Simone will be teaching the Fundamentals of Photography course on Tuesday, January 10 from 6 - 9 p.m. in Studio 21c. The Fundamentals of Photography course will educate beginners on the essential DSLR tools and techniques needed to achieve professional quality images. Intro to Sound Mixers and Recording with the PreSonus Board Studio 21c is delighted to welcome back Bob Lord to our volunteer instructing staff! Bob has been heavily involved with the audio industry for many years including live sound engineering and production. Bob is currently a board of directors and production team member for The Black Rose Acoustic Society and is a voting member of the National Audio Engineering Society. Bob will be teaching the Introduction to Sound Mixers and Recording with the Presonus Board course on Monday, January 23 from 6 - 9 p.m. in Studio 21c. This Introductory course will explore the basic functions of both analog and digital sound mixers with specific emphasis on Studio 21cs' PreSonus 16 channel digital mixer. Introduction To Audio Engineering |
Paul McWhirter is an audio training professional, live sound guru, and audio engineer working with the United States Air Force. He currently volunteers teaching free audio classes to students at Studio 21c! This month Paul will be teaching the Introduction to audio engineering class. This course will provide a basic understanding of sound, audio signal flow, microphones, audio mixers (analog and digital), and sound system setup. Patrons will explore the components of a mixing console and how to use them to create a quality mix. The class will setup a monitor and loudspeaker, learning how to get signal to both and avoid feedback, and will discuss tips and tricks to crafting a solid live sound mix. Paul will be teaching this class on Tuesday, January 31 from 6 - 9 p.m. in Studio 21c. We'll cover the basics from setting up for recording, editing what you've captured, and finding a place to publish your finished show. This multipart course will explore the fun and creative aspects of digital photography whether using a DSLR or your smart phone camera. This is not a “how to class, but rather a how to be a better photographer by learning from and being inspired by other creatives." This is an interactive class where the students will share and discuss their work. Guest photographers will explore their techniques through lively discussions with the class. You’ll learn ways to make your work stand out by thinking outside the box. So whether you are interested in shooting landscapes or portraits, we will share tips and tricks for out in the field, in the studio, and editing the final shot. The photographers attending the class will have the opportunity to display their work at a PPLD gallery location. Studio Orientation Interested in using Studio 21c for your own personal or financial project? Whether you're creating your first masterpiece or are a seasoned professional, Studio 21c offers the tools to produce original content for television, radio, and the web. The Studio 21c Orientation course guides patrons through studio policies, safety and procedures while serving as the first step toward the certification necessary to use the facility independently.
This course is required training to use Studio 21c. Attendees under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent. Click on a date below to register. Studio Camera & Lighting A basic introduction to studio camera and lighting. Completion of this course provides certification to utilize in-studio cameras and lights, as well as to check out video equipment. Prerequisite: Studio 21c Orientation course. Additional courses may be required to check out equipment. Video Editing Basics with Premiere Petritz Learning Lab, 2nd floor, Library 21c For those new to video editing, this introductory class will get you up and running with Adobe Premiere CC. We will cover a range of topics from navigating the interface, importing assets, working with sequences and timelines, applying titles and effects, and exporting your finished edit. Prerequisite: Studio 21c Orientation course. Peak Film Forum The Venue at 21c The Peak Film Forum connects filmmakers, actors, writers, and other production film and video crew members in a creative networking environment. This community group meets the second Wednesday of each month at Studio 21c. Peak Film Forum offers the opportunity to meet others in the Colorado Springs area working or interested in the filmmaking process. Come network, get constructive feedback on scripts and scenes, and enjoy discussions with experts on specialized topics such as makeup, wardrobe, crowdfunding, casting, marketing, and more. All are welcome! This month the Peak Film Forum will present "Show Us Your Shorts" a collection of independent films written, directed, and produced by local talent in the Colorado Springs region.
