Light Painting: The Art of Low Light, Long Exposure Photography Light painting photography is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera. Join us in Studio 21c with artist and presenter Paul Burns of Rising View Photography as he demonstrates different techniques of light painting with use of fiber optic and LED sources. The course will include the interactive use of long exposure photography and light to create photographic art. Classes will be in Studio 21c. Wed., June 20 w 6 - 8 p.m. To register for this course please click on the link below: Multitrack Audio Recording on the Cheap In the past, it took a million-dollar studio, a massive, expensive mixing console, and dozens of expensive microphones to make quality, multitrack recordings. The digital revolution has changed all that. These days, you can make great-sounding recordings with multiple tracks in your home for just a few hundred bucks worth of gear, using the computer you probably already own. Join us on Tue, June 19 as we explore the world of capturing and mixing sound "on the cheap." We'll talk about the theory and evolution of the recording process, and we'll demonstrate how to make great-sounding, multi-track recordings with just a few, simple pieces of gear and free software. Our instructor will be Bob Lord, sound engineer with The Black Rose Acoustic Society. Prerequisites: To get the most out of this class, you should have a basic understanding of audio and how to use software applications on either Windows or Mac computers. It'll also help if you have a basic understanding of the difference between analog and digital audio and how multi-track recordings have been traditionally made. That said, just about anyone with an interest in recording should get something out of this class. Classes will be in Studio 21c. Tue., June 19 w 6 - 8 p.m. To register for this course please click on the link below: Recording Audio for Video Sound is as important to a video project as the video itself.
