Adventures in TinkerCAD
 
July 2, 4 - 5:30 p.m. -- Library 21c
 
Kids interested in 3D modeling and 3D printing? This is a great place to start! Kids between 7 and 12 years of age are welcome to join us for this drop-in TinkerCAD club, where we will be learning 3D modeling while working on projects in TinkerCAD. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to join in on the fun! 

Ages 7-12. No registration is necessary, but space is limited. Contact Melissa at mschloesser@ppld.org for participation requirements.
Maker Mondays
Crafting classes designed for Grown Ups! Materials and supplies provided. Registration Required.
 
Drink and Draw
July 2, 6 - 7:30 p.m. -- Sand Creek Library
Does the upcoming holiday have you stressed? Do you need a cool, relaxing space with other grown-ups to discover your creative side? Adults and Teens (ages 12 and up) are invited to experiment with markers, colored, pencils, and watercolors while enjoying tea and coffee.

Wood Burning Birdhouses
July 9, 6 - 7:30 p.m. -- Sand Creek Library
Decorate small birdhouses using a wood burning tool.

Glass Bottle Wall Vases
July 9, 6 - 7:30 p.m. -- Sand Creek Library
In this class we will repurpose glass bottles at wall vases. Decorate wood panels and attach a bottle for a custom flower vase.

Dry Shampoo
July 30, 6 - 7:30 p.m. -- Sand Creek Library
Learn how to make dry shampoo at home! Great for use at home or on a camping trip. Recipes for light and dark hair will be provided.

Patriotic Printmaking

It's almost the 4th of July! Get ready to celebrate in style. We'll create one-of-a-kind painted designs by making stamps with styrofoam and cardboard paper tubes.

Summer Science

Join us for serious science and engineering projects for tweens ages 9-12.

Tech Tuesdays
 
Tinker Lab

The first Tuesday of each month, join us for an open lab to experiment with various electronics and robotics activities.

Arduino-Powered Pom Pom Creatures

Quilling is a form of art that uses thin strips of paper to create designs. Join Maker in Residence Monique Santos as she introduces you to the basic elements of paper quilling. Learn to create basic coils and scrolls that will set the foundation for endless possibilities.

Sewing Denim Clutches/Purses

Upcycling is the process of converting discarded materials into something creative or useful. Transform a discarded and used book into art!

Tape Resist Painting

An art class just for adults. All skill levels welcome! We will be creating designs on canvas board using painters tape and paints. All supplies provided.

Design.Build.Create - Laser
 
July 13 and 20, 3 - 5 p.m. -- Library 21c
 
Two part series class Where you will learn the software and the hardware of the Laser. This month we will be creating a Family Celebrations Calendar. When registering, you will be signing up for both classes in one registration form.
 
Proficient computers skills are a requirement of the class.

Soul Collage:
An Intuitive Process for Self-Discovery

Access your soul through the creative process of collage. Create a deck of cards similar to tarot cards that can be used for your own personal guidance.

Binders Keepers

Binders Keepers is a bi-monthly meeting for bookbinding enthusiasts or wannabes. We meet to share creative ideas, techniques, skills, and of course, handmade books.
 
Every meeting also includes a demonstration that is relevant to bookbinding. Please join us.

No more are the days of de-tangling earbuds with these nifty, animal shaped earbud-holders! Made with wood and our laser-cutter, you'll be able to get to your music much faster without having to figure out why your earbuds are again in a knot!

Rocket Car Engineering Challenge

Drop-in Watercolor Painting

Amateur artists are invited to MAKE @ East to experiment with watercolors (watercolor paints, watercolor crayons, and watercolor pencils!) at this fun and informal drop-in program. We’ll supply the brushes, paint, and paper; just bring yourself and a friend!

Art on the Rocks

July 21, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. -- East Library
July 21, 4 - 5 p.m. -- East Library
 
In this class, we’ll turn plain rocks into works of art!  In the first class, we’ll transform our rock into a cute and colorful owl.  In the second class, we will create petroglyph style art accentuated with dots and mandalas.
 
Ages 12 and up. Registration is required.
PC Workshop
 
July 23, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. -- East Library
 
Have you ever wondered about the inner workings of a computer? Felt daunted by the thought of doing your own hardware upgrades? All the magic and mystery will be revealed at this take apart class!
 
Our trained PC expert will walk attendees through the process of dismantling and reassembling a desktop tower, identifying hardware components and demonstrating just how easy it is to make modifications to a PC.
 
Ages 12 and up. Registration is required. Ages 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Colorful Collages

The makerspace needs new display art! Working together, attendees will create an oversized color wheel of petals to form a big, beautiful flower!
 
Ages 5-15. Ages 5-11 must be accompanied by a guardian. Registration is required.
Art Buddies
 
July 26, 2 - 4 p.m. -- Library 21c
 
Have fun with art! Bring your creativity to this monthly gathering. Bring whatever project you are working on and work in a group setting. Local artist and instructor Deb Ross will be on hand to help inspire. Supplies are not provided.

Screen Printed Shirts
 
July 26, 2 - 3:30 p.m. -- East Library
 
Come make a screen-printed shirt! We will use precut vinyl sheets, fabric paint, and of course, shirts to make an amazing work of art you can rock all summer long!
 
Ages 9-18 only. Ages 9-11 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.
Shadow Box Bank

Crafts for Grown-ups!

Decorate a shadow box and turn it into a bank. Save for a vacation, your coffee fund, or a rainy day. All Supplies Provided.

Rock Concert T-Shirts for Teens
 
July 27, 3 - 5 p.m. -- Sand Creek Library
 
Teens ages 12-18 can design their own t-shirt. We will use heat transfer vinyl to apply cutouts made on the Cricut or Silhouette to your shirt. Please bring one t-shirt or fabric item to class.
 
Ages 12-18. Registration is required.

Tuesdays: 1 - 8 p.m.
Wednesdays: noon - 6 p.m.
Thursdays: 2 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Fridays: 10 a.m. -  2 p.m.
Saturdays: noon. - 5 p.m.
 
During Open Hours, Make II is available for patrons to work on their own projects while a PPLD staff member is present. Equipment and supplies are available on a first come basis.
 
Patrons must be badged to use a machine during Open Hours. For information about badging at Library 21c, please see the badging section below or call 719-884-9800, x 6364.

Mondays: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Tuesdays: 1 - 8:30 p.m.

Saturdays: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Badging
Interested in using the laser cutter, CNC, or 3D printers at Library 21c or the laser cutter or 3D printers at Sand Creek Library? Patrons must attend a badging class to be trained prior to using these machines during Open Hours.
 
Badging is not currently required to use the laser cutter or 3D printers at East Library. Equipment and instruction is available on a first come basis during MAKE @ East Open Hours.
