Plight of the Bees Tuesday, July 14 6:30 pm

Honeybees are dying by the millions. Since 2006, more than 30% of the American honeybee population has died off. From hives to honey and everything in between, join us Tuesday, July 14 from 6:30-7:30pm for an informational presentation all about bees. Connecticut State Apiary Inspector Mark Creighton will be on hand to talk about the basics of beekeeping and why honeybees are so important to your garden. Mark will also discuss recent issues with honeybee colony collapse and give a live demonstration of a bee hive. This program is free and open to everyone. Registration is requested. SCORE - Business Counseling Sessions1st Monday of each month, 12:30 pm-4:30 pm(1 hour appointments) The library is now partnering with SCORE - a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship. SCORE has nearly 50 years of experience in providing mentors, workshops, counseling and tools for growing businesses. SCORE is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration. One hour counseling appointments are available at the library on the 1st Monday of every month.

Minecraft Club
The Cora J. Belden Library is excited to kick off its new Minecraft Club this summer for Grades 3-5 and 6-12 (2 separate clubs). The library has setup brand new Minecraft servers that you can use to play together with your friends. The library will be having meeting times once a week so that you can game together with your friends! You must bring your own device to play during the Minecraft Club Meeting Dates. Sign up is not required, so just drop in. Minecraft Club Meeting Dates: - Tuesdays July 14th, 21st, and 28th and August 11th, 18th and 25th from 4:00 - 5:00 pm

Need some community service hours? Looking to beef up you resume for college? Love working with kids? This is great opportunity for teens entering grades 9 and up! The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group of teens who meet once a month to make the library the best place it can be for fellow teens. For example, the group comes up with cool programs for teens, makes suggestions for developing the library's teen collection (books, movies, CD's, etc.), and designs displays for the teen section, among others.
