Technology Training: Getting Started With Windows 8

3D Printer/Scanner Demos

Ever wondered what 3D printing was all about? Maybe you have a design or idea you wish could come to life? Come check out the Cora J. Belden's new MakerBot Replicator Mini, one of the latest and greatest 3D printers, as well as the library's new MakerBot Digitizer, a 3D scanner that allows you to make digital copies of physical items and then print them for your own purposes. Drop in Mondays. No registration required.

SCORE - Business Counseling

The library is now partnering with SCORE - a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship. SCORE has nearly 50 years of experience in providing mentors, workshops, counseling and tools for growing businesses. SCORE is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration. One hour counseling appointments are available at the library on the 3rd Monday of every month. Contact the Information Desk @ 860-258-7623 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Miss Cathy will introduce a science topic and then children will have an opportunity to visit stations for further exploration. For children entering grades K and up. Registration required.

Rocky Visits the Library - New Britain Rock Cats Mascot

Join the New Britain Rock Cats Mascot Rocky in listening to baseball stories at the library. Get Rocky's autograph. Pose for a picture. For families with children of all ages. Registration not required.

Kindergarten Welcome

Come meet your classmates at a special event just for children entering kindergarten. Meet in front of the Community Center at 6pm for a ride on a school bus (provided by New Britain Transportation Company) and explore an ambulance from the Rocky Hill Volunteer Ambulance Association. Entertainment by Evan Gottfried begins at 6:30pm at the Community Center. Wear your school colors! (West Hill - yellow, Stevens - blue, any other school - green). Registration not required.

It's Book Time with Ronald McDonald!

Miss Cathy and Miss Alex will present fun activities to explore. Visit the "museum" and create a masterpiece. Visit the "theater" for dress-up and puppet play. Visit the "construction zone" to build with LEGO's and blocks and play with vehicles. Visit the "library" to make your own book. Visit the "tech center" to interact with an iPad.

SAVE THE DATES The semi-annual book sale will be held Saturday October 18 from 11 am-4:30pm (Friends of the Library gain early entrance from 10am-11am). Sunday - noon - 3:30 pm.
Doing some cleaning? The Friends of the Cora J. Belden Library is currently accepting gently used books, dvds and cds from now until October 11. Donations will resume again on October 20.
