Using a combination of historical research and science, Adam Shefts and his team at the Northeast Paranormal Investigation Society have been investigating the paranormal for more than 10 years. Hoopla allows you to borrow movies, tv shows, music, audiobooks, e-books, and graphic novels free with your Rocky Hill library card. The nice thing about Hoopla? There are no holds and no waiting. Stream or download your materials instantly! Come to this class to learn all the ins-and-outs of Hoopla and how to start getting free books, movies and tv on your computer! Monthly Makerspace Wednesday, October 19, 5:30pm-7:30pm For Grades 4 and Up (including Adults): Join us for our first Monthly Makerspace at the Cora J. Belden Library! This program will consist of two hours of free time to come play with and learn the latest DIY tech, complete Maker projects, converse and network with fellow makers, be creative, and more. We will have available for use: our Maker Bot Replicator 3D printer, 3D scanner, Arduinos (along with a Sparkduino mini-robot), Raspberry Pis, Makey Makeys, Windows 10 PCs with various Maker and coding software, a Stop Motion Video station, as well as random Maker materials for completing projects such as paper circuits, wearable electronics, and more. SCORE - Business Counseling Sessions1st Monday of each month, 12:30 pm-4:30 pm(1 hour appointments) (NOTE: Second Monday during months of July & September) The library is now partnering with SCORE - a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship. SCORE has nearly 50 years of experience in providing mentors, workshops, counseling and tools for growing businesses. SCORE is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration. One hour counseling appointments are available at the library on the 1st Monday of every month.

Google Computer Science Club for Grades 6 - 8: Music and Sound Thursdays starting October 13, 5:30 pm Join us at the Cora J. Belden Library for our first Google Computer Science (CS) First Club for Grades 6 - 8! CS First Clubs are designed to empower students to create with technology and provide an introduction to concepts such as computer programming, software development, and design. The theme for our first club will be Music & Sound with Scratch. Together, we will use computers to design our own music, create our own instruments and music videos, and learn how technology is used in the music industry. No previous computer science experience is necessary to participate. The club will meet once a week from 5:30 - 6:30 pm on Thursdays beginning on October 13th, and will meet the following 8 weeks, excluding November 24th. The club is limited to 9 participants who are expected to attend all of the club events. This program is completely free and all materials will be provided. Registration is required. Come to the library and game with your friends on the library's own Minecraft server! Users can log into the server from anywhere they have an internet connection. Further, the library has meeting times once a week so that you can game together with your friends!

Decorate a Coaster: There is still time to decorate a coaster for our cool new art installation. Coasters are available at the library and at several locations around Rocky Hill. Explore your history: October is Family History Month. The Library subscribes to Ancestry.com: A genealogy resource with over 1.5 billion names. Includes records from U.S. census, military, court, land, probate, church records, and passenger lists. Ancestry is available on any of the public computers at the library.
