Readers interested in what life was like for solders post-war should pick up the author's Inspector Ian Rutledge novels. Those who'd like to read about strong, independent women like Bess after the war should try Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs mysteries about a wartime nurse turned PI. |
