November is a time to express gratitude for the many blessings we have in our lives. The board and staff of the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library are grateful to you for the role that you play in the growth and success of our library. Because of your financial and volunteer support, and your visits to the library to borrow materials and attend programs, we are dedicated to providing essential library services for our community of readers. Here's a short list of our services. T is for Tea and Stitches, our weekly gathering of avid knitters, crocheters, and other needlework crafters working on beautiful handmade projects. H is for helping people navigate the Internet. N is for nightly programs for all ages so that people who can’t attend programs during the day due to work or school, can still benefit from the library’s educational programs at night. S is for STEM Club for children, teaching science, technology, engineering, and math. G is group programs such as LEGO, Manga, and American Girls Clubs. I is instruction on how to use your Apple iPhones and iPads. V is for visually appealing picture books to capture a child’s imagination and develop a love of books. I is for Internet access through both the library’s computers and your own personal devices. N is for new materials added to the library’s collection for your reading and viewing pleasure throughout the year. G is for great book recommendations through our Booksmith personalized reading service. Thank you for supporting Simpson Public Library. We appreciate your visits, computer use, program attendance, and borrowing of materials, as well as your financial and volunteer support. Sue Erdman, Executive Director717-766-0171

Library Reference Center As we head into the middle of the school year, research papers are often on students’ minds. If you need to write one for a literature class, don’t forget about Literary Reference Center. This database contains thousands of articles, literary criticism essays, plot summaries, book reviews, author biographies, and interviews from reputable sources appropriate for a research paper. You can also find full texts of classic novels, short stories, and poems. But it’s not just students writing a term paper who will find Literary Reference Center useful! Are you leading a book club discussion? Turn here for author bios and insights to add depth to your discussion. Literary Reference Center is on our Website under the “Collections and Services” menu.
