ONLY 21 DAYS UNTIL SPRING, but who is counting? While I am as eager as most people for spring to arrive, my thoughts are on May and June with two new fundraising events. On May 15, library supporters can attend Decked Out Live at The Vineyard and Brewery at Hershey in Middletown. Tickets will be on sale at the library beginning March 15 for $25 per person. The ticket includes a wine tasting and private tour, refreshments and a beautiful view of the vineyard from the deck. The Kelly's will perform from 7-10 pm. Read more about their music at johnkellyguitar.com. On Sunday, June 14, the Upper Allen Woman's Club Foundation is sponsoring a Pig Roast from 4-7 pm at Friendship Park to benefit the library. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased at the library in May and June or from any club member. Money raised will be used to fund the purchase of three digital display screens to be installed at the library this summer. The General Federation of Women's Clubs is an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. In Pennsylvania, their statewide club project this year is Libraries Rock! We are thrilled to be working with the women from the Upper Allen Woman's Club GFWC. They support many community organizations and Simpson Library is grateful to be one of them. Sue Erdman

As confusion starts to cloud her thinking and her memory begins to fail her, she receives a devastating diagnosis: early onset Alzheimer's disease. Fifty-one children came to the library with their stuffed animals for our Stuffed Animal Sleepover. They decorated picture frames, sat with their furry friends, and listened to several stories. When the stories ended, the children kissed and hugged their friends goodbye and left them at the library for an overnight sleepover. The animals had great adventures exploring the library, getting snacks from the vending machines, riding on a swivel chair and reading picture books to each other that they climbed up the shelves to get! All were reunited the next morning where they shared a light breakfast together after watching a slide show of what the stuffed animals did at their library sleepover. As a keepsake, each child received a photo of themselves with their stuffed animal to put in the frame they decorated. Thank you to the Upper Allen Woman’s Club GFWC for their financial and volunteer support for this program.
