Celebrate National Library Week with our VIP Readers during our Story Time programs. We extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers who help us every day. 11:00 am – 2:00 pm For the past couple years, the Federal Government has been reducing the forms they are sending to the library in order for folks to do their own taxes. There has been a big push for everyone to file electronically. What if you do not have a computer or do not feel proficient enough to file electronically? What if those forms are available through the Federal Government, if only you knew the secret to accessing them? A tax professional from H&R Block will be at the library to answer questions and give guidance on how to access these forms. The service is free, no registration is required, and assistance is first come, first served.

Life of a World War I Soldier Wednesday, April 12, 7:00 pm This year marks the 100th Anniversary of US involvement in WW I. Judith Redline Coopey will be here to share some of the stories from a memoir written by her father, Kenneth Redline (1896-1970), titled Dig or Die. Though it was not published during his lifetime, Judith has resurrected the memoirs, edited them, and brought them to publication. The book is an authentic story of the daily lives of American soldiers in action, facing machine guns, gas, flame throwers, and a myriad of innovative killing machines. It honestly depicts anguish, resentment, patriotism, pride, and fear as a troop of American boys are molded into seasoned soldiers, combat tested, and ready to meet the enemy on any terms. Register at the library or by calling 766-0171.

This resource connects you to four of Pennsylvania’s job information sites. Job Gateway was created to connect PA employers and job-seekers all in one place. If you’re looking for a job, you can search for employment opportunities, upload or create a resume, and choose to allow employers to search for you. Veterans can find help translating their military skills into civilian terms and employers can post jobs and search for candidates. PA Workforce Statistics provides objective and credible economic statistics and analysis. You’ll find the latest unemployment numbers, new hires, and occupational projections. Education Planner is a public service of the PA Higher Education Assistance Agency and serves as a one-stop career and college planning website. Students in middle school and high school along with their parents and school counselors will find all sorts of valuable information as they plan for the future. Finally, an electronic version of the Occupational Outlook Handbook is available to help you figure out what skills are needed in a particular career plus what you can expect to earn. Click on PA Job Resources in the list of databases under the “Collections and Services” menu on our website.
