Wednesday, August 12, 7:00 pm This month we're reading The Burgler in the Rye by Lawrence Block. Gulliver Fairborn's novel, Nobody's Baby, changed Bernie Rhodenbarr's life. And now pretty Alice Cottrell, Fairborn's one-time paramour, wants the bookselling, book-loving burglar to break into a room in New York's Paddington Hotel and purloin some of the writer's very personal letters before an unscrupulous agent can sell them. Here's an opportunity to use his unique talents in the service of the revered, famously reclusive author. But when Bernie gets there, the agent is dead . . . and Bernie's wanted for murder. (He really hates when that happens!)

Monday, August 17, 7:00 pm This month we're reading The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown. Tuesday, August 18, 6:00 pm This month we're reading The Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan. They have always scared him in the past—the Rangers, with their dark cloaks and shadowy ways. The villagers believe the Rangers practice magic that makes them invisible to ordinary people. And now 15-year-old Will, always small for his age, has been chosen as a Ranger's apprentice. What he doesn't yet realize is that the Rangers are the protectors of the kingdom. Highly trained in the skills of battle and surveillance, they fight the battles before the battles reach the people. And as Will is about to learn, there is a large battle brewing. The exiled Morgarath, Lord of the Mountains of Rain and Night, is gathering his forces for an attack on the kingdom. This time, he will not be denied.

Library Catalog To Be Upgraded
|
|
The Cumberland County Library System will upgrade its online catalog software, Encore, during the first week of August, 2015. The improvements include: - Checkout eBooks and eAudiobooks directly from the library system’s Encore online catalog.
- See your eBook and eAudiobook checkouts and holds from within your online Encore library account.
- A more streamlined way to access your online Encore library account. The software will no longer open a new web browser window. The information will display in the existing window.
Things You Should Do Clear your web browser’s cache the first time you use the upgraded version of Encore. If you don’t do this, it’s possible that you will have problems placing holds. For instructions on how to clear your browser’s cache, go to: www.cumberlandcountylibraries.org/Clearing_Browser_Cache
