Ready or not, here comes summer! We love summer at the Simpson Library because we see thousands of children using the library, checking out books, attending fun-filled programs, and reading! We offer an eight-week summer learning program for children, teens, and adults, with age appropriate programs and activities for each age group. Join the fun! We extend a special invitation to our newest card holders (310 of them!) from the Mechanicsburg Area School District from our recent library card registration drive. Visit us often this summer. Story Times at Simpson Library Library story time programs encourage children to develop a love of reading by presenting them with stories and activities in a fun, energetic environment. When kids see others excited about reading, it sets a positive example and encourages them to pick up books on their own. **Story Times will resume the week of June 5th.** Rhyme Time, Toddler Time, and Story Time are presented several times a week throughout the year. Family Story Time is presented once a week on Mondays at 6:30 pm. Visit our Story Time Events Calendar to view the current schedule.
If you value the importance of early literacy, we hope you will consider sponsoring a Story Time. You can sponsor for a week, a month, or even a year! For more information, and to get pricing information for each sponsorship level, download our Story Time Sponsor Brochure.

This month’s display features two different collections of memorabilia – Michter’s decanters and Winross trucks. Michter's Distillery, located near Schaefferstown, PA, was America's smallest commercial distiller at the time of its 1989 closure. The surviving still house, warehouse, and jug house date from about 1840. Decanters were sold depicting sports teams, famous people like King Tut, and historical landmarks like the Liberty Bell, just to name a few. Winross promotional diecast trucks feature businesses from across the country and are a popular collectors item at auctions. Stop in and see what you recognize or remember from years gone by.

Keep kids reading this summer with a database that animates favorite picture books! BookFlix pairs a fiction picture book with a nonfiction book on the same topic. You and your child will enjoy watching the animated and narrated picture book like a movie and then learn more on the topic by reading or listening to the nonfiction book. Books are arranged thematically, making it easy to discover interesting books. There are also fun games to test comprehension, author biographies, and a selection of related websites. Find BookFlix in the list of databases under the “Collections and Services” menu on our website.
