Annually, The Great Read explores a theme or book in depth. For 2017 we're celebrating 20 Years of Harry Potter Magic, commemorating the astounding impact of the Harry Potter books on literature and culture worldwide. Joliet Public Library - Black Road Branch. Enjoy trivia and costume contests with prizes. Participants will be "sorted into one of the four Harry Potter Houses for the trivia contest. The Art Contest winners will be announced along with the art of all of the semi-finalists on display. Then, everyone will be treated to a special Harry Potter-themed magic show! This fast-paced show features comedy magic and lots of audience participation. Dress in your favorite wizard or witch outfit. Create an original piece of art inspired by the Harry Potter books. Entries can be any medium (up to 2 feet in height and width with a weight limit of 5 pounds) or a digital presentation up to 2-1/2 minutes. Bring your artwork to any White Oak Library Branch Library by February 20th with a completed entry form. Artwork will be judged at both the local level (where it is judged at the library where the art is submitted) and at the Great Read Finale level where the winning pieces from each Library are judged. Local level prizes of $20.00 gift cards to Barnes & Noble will be awarded to the best entries in each age level. Great Read Finale winners will each receive $50.00 gift card to Barnes & Noble.

The purpose of C.A.R.E's Seed Exchange is to educate the public about Organic, Heirloom and Open Pollinated seeds and how they can increase the nutrition, taste, and variety of homegrown food.
