SHHH! No Hurricanes, Please!
Did you know your librarian might be at work during a hurricane? Actually all New Hanover County employees have assigned shifts doing things like answering phones or staffing shelters during large-scale emergencies like a hurricane landing near us. We train and practice each spring to be ready for the storms we hope we won't see that summer.

NHC Emergency Management has a training program for you readers as well. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training begins Thursday, September 13, for interested New Hanover County residents. Call 910-798-6900 to register! CERT training is basic training in disaster preparedness, and will increase your ability to help your family and neighbors in an emergency situation. NHC EM's goal is to help you get ready to be self-sufficient for up to 96 hours after a disaster strikes.
