Food at Seaby Simon Spalding Saturday, February 18 2:00 pm 3rd floor Main Library, 201 Chestnut StMusical historian Simon Spalding presents a talk based on his book FOOD AT SEA, accompanying his stories about hardtack and grog with snatches of sea chanteys. The program is free, and books will be available for purchase and autographing.Simon Spalding is based in New Bern, North Carolina, and travels widely with his musical performances and lectures.

This is one of the largest free-entry contests in the South, and has a cash prize of $500. Guest Judge Richard Garcia will select one grand prize winner and four honorable mentions. Prizes will be announced on April 13 at a reading by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Sharon Olds.
