James Bradberry’s Pennsylvania architectural firm has designed two resoundingly successful interactive learning centers called Storyville for the Baltimore County Public Libraries in Rosedale and Woodlawn, Maryland. He will present on the trends in library design and interactive learning centers.

Pleasure Island Library Grand Opening! Saturday, November 21 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Celebrate the grand opening of our newest New Hanover County Library location - the Pleasure Island Branch! Located in Snow's Sut Shopping Center at 1401 N. Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach, the new branch offers 4,000 sf of library space with children's activity space, public access computers, books, DVDs, and more. - Opening ceremony at 10:00

Moms, bring baby/toddler to the library and discuss all things baby related with other moms. Parenting books and guest speakers will be available to help answer questions. During this hour it’s okay to: be late, nurse/feed baby, change diapers, and cry (baby or mom). Free 2 hour parking on ground floor of library parking deck. Canines for Literacy @ Northeast and Myrtle Grove appointment times vary-- call for availability
Independently reading children can make an appointment to read to a real, live reading therapy dog! Practice your reading skills in a comfortable and fun environment with a trained reading therapy dog and their human companion. Appointments are made for 15 minute lengths of time. Pre-registration is required! Register online or call to make an appointment.

Monthly theme challenges will be given at the beginning of each meeting. Regular meetings will be held monthly. There are no fees, but registration is required. "It's the Process not the Product": Toddlers and their adults will be introduced to a variety of hands on art experiences. The focus of this program will be on child driven art exploration. Come join us for 30 minutes of Messy Fun! Make sure you wear your play clothes! This program is designed for toddlers, 2's and 3's and their adults. *Children must be accompanied by an adult. *Registration is required.

We offer high quality Every Child Ready to Read (ECRR) research based storytimes by highly trained staff members to help you introduce important skills and concepts to your child before they enter school.
