It's officially Winter Book Sale time!
 
The sale begins this afternoon with our Friends of the Library Preview Sale from 5:30-9 PM. Join at the door! Membership rates start at $20 a year.   
 
Free admission dates are listed below. The sale is held at the Northeast Library (1241 Military Cutoff Road).

Black History Month
Black History Month Webinars
 
The International African American Museum's Center for Family History in partnership with the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor will present free and open-to-the-public online webinars for Black History Month 2023.
Each week will cover different topics related to Genealogy Research. The webinars will be held every Saturday in February at 1 PM. Click the links below or see the library calendar to register. This month the Local History Room will also have resources set aside for research about these topics.

Children under the age of 18 are invited to read a book by an African American author from the library then fill out a survey as a raffle entry! The prize will be a $25 gift card to Sweet D.'s Cuisine. The winning name will be drawn after March 1 and it will be announced on our Facebook page. You may fill out an entry for each eligible book you read this month!

Does the library offer tax assistance?
 
NHCPL is offering free tax preparation this year through the AARP Foundation's Tax-Aide program. The program will be held on the third floor of the Main Library, located at 201 Chestnut Street in downtown Wilmington. 
Site Opens: Wednesday, Feb. 1
Days of Operation: Monday - Friday 10 AM - 1 PM
(Feb. 1 - April 14)
Appointments are required. To register for an appointment at this location, call (910) 798-7341. Head downtown to Snack and Study! Feel free to snack and/or study at your own pace, but library staff will be available to answer your queries, provide you resources, and dish out snacks! This program will take place on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.
