Much has been written about the Lakota tribe war leader Crazy Horse. We now have the opportunity to hear from his nearest living relatives as they share tales and memories told to them about their famous grandfather. The oral history differs from what has become the standard and widely accepted biography of Crazy Horse. The family clarifies the inaccuracies and shares their story about the past, including what it means to them to be Lakota, the family genealogy, the life of Crazy Horse and his motivations, his death, and why they chose to keep quiet with their knowledge for so long before finally deciding to tell the truth as they know it. Author William Matson has compiled this information in his book and will be available with the family for book signings. Light refreshments.
Enjoy a fun favorite with chances to win cool prizes! Registration is required!

Introducing our "Sensory Backpacks!"
Each clear backpack contains handouts, toys, books, and a DVD or CD that can be used to both calm and stimulate a child's sensory needs.
Patrons are able to put holds on these backpacks and check them out for two weeks (only one backpack can be checked out per account) and the backpacks are eligible for renewal – up to two times just like most other regular items!
Currently the backpacks are held at the Central and Sulphur Regional libraries, but can be placed on hold at every library in the Parish and sent to a patron's home library for checkout. Simply search for "Sensory Backpack" in the catalog and place a hold, or ask a staff member to show you how!
