Corporate
Follows the adventures of several employees at a large business. Hapless middle managers Matt, Jake, and Grace struggle to make sense of their places and roles at the multinational company for which they work. Absurd situations abound. Watch for Lance Reddick (Lt. Daniels from The Wire) as the corporate overlord.
Seasons 1 to 3.

Lovecraft country
A Black Korean War veteran joins his uncle and his friend on a trip across 1950s America, facing both racism and horrifying monsters from H.P. Lovecraft stories. A provocative and compelling first season for this series, filled with magic, monsters, and a variety of responses to cruelty. Great performances.

Das Boot
An inexperienced U-boat crew has to survive a secret mission and a young German woman is torn between loyalty for her home country and the French resistance in the WWII drama. Set partly in an occupied French village, and partly on the U-boat, this tense drama features a number of fine performances. In French, German, and English, with subtitles.

The Expanse
In a future where humanity has colonized the solar system, a conspiracy is unraveled that threatens peace across the system.
Most of the time, I have no idea what is going on plotwise with this show, filmed in Toronto and featuring many Canadian actors. There's mysterious technology scattered through space, and exploitation of workers, and somehow the United Nations still exists. But I very much enjoy the performances, especially the scenery chewing done by Shohreh Aghdashloo, Cara Gee, and David Strathairn.
Seasons 1 to 4.

Condor
A young CIA analyst goes on the run after he discovers a deadly conspiracy that threatens the lives of millions. This is a new take on the story from the 1975 movie Three Days of the Condor.
Filmed in Toronto, this first season is exciting and tension-filled. Max Irons as the young analyst is very good. Also featuring William Hurt and Mira Sorvino.

The Sounds
This New Zealand-Canada coproduction is set mostly in New Zealand. Canadians Maggie (Rachelle Lefevre) and Tom (Matt Whelan) move there to start a new life. But their old life and Tom's wealthy family won't leave them alone. Some twists and fun side characters, but the scenery is the real star. From Acorn TV.

The Gulf
A female detective is determined to bring to justice the killer who was responsible for the death of her husband in a fatal car accident. Sadly, New Zealand scenery is not much of a feature in this dark police procedural.

Straight forward
Follows Danish con-woman Sylvia Petersen as she goes into hiding in New Zealand after seeking revenge against a crime boss for killing her father. Another coproduction from Acorn TV, this one features lots of international action, and tension, while doing full justice to the beautiful New Zealand setting.
