The Southwest Georgia Regional Library continues to offer curbside service for patrons to access books, movies, and audiobooks. Staff look forward to recommending titles and assisting you in selecting your materials. For those who like to browse, we suggest trying our online catalog at gapines.org as new materials are highlighted for your home library. Material suggestions are made on the Southwest Georgia Regional Library Facebook page as well as in our weekly news articles. To use our curbside service, you can place a hold online at gapines.org, through our curbside form at swgrl.org, or by calling the library at 229-248-2665. Once your hold is ready, the library will contact you to schedule an appointment for pickup. At your scheduled time, you will call the library to let staff know you arrived and we will place the material on a table outside. Once staff are back inside, you can pick up your items.
While the library building is not open to the public, staff are working hard on making improvements to library buildings. The Decatur County – Gilbert H. Gragg removed wallpaper, painted walls, and are in the process of replacing tile and carpet in the public areas. Staff are moving library collections to other areas to make room for new titles in large print, young adult, and Spanish language. The Seminole County Public Library is resolving a humidity issue that developed since Hurricane Michael requiring extensive work on the duct work and air conditioning systems. Currently, the Decatur County – Gilbert H. Gragg Library and the Miller County – James W. Merritt, Jr. Memorial Library are without working air conditioning units for their main reading areas as they wait for replacements. All libraries are replacing air conditioning units to ensure proper ventilation and cooling.
We encourage everyone to subscribe to the SWGRL Spotlight to stay informed about library updates. The Southwest Georgia Regional Library continues to monitor the COVID-19 curve for the Southwest Georgia Health District. We look forward to completing our building projects and welcoming our patrons back inside soon.
