The Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library will host a community event on September 25 and October 2 at 5:30 p.m. with Carol Buckley, founder of Elephant Refuge North America in Attapulgus. Join us at the library event, where Carol will present on her efforts in Attapulgus and worldwide and answer any questions you have on the refuge or her work. The event on September 25 will be geared towards adults, and the event on October 2 will be geared towards children. Elephant Refuge North America is a project of Carol Buckley's organization, Elephant Aid International. The organization strives to improve the treatment of elephants in captivity. The 845 acre refuge in Attapulgus represents an effort to create a new model for captive care of elephants.

SWGLAS has partnered with Georgia Cares to provide Medicare Assistance each month. There are two certified Medicare Counselors available on the third Thursday of each month between 10 am - 12 pm in Decatur. Georgia Cares also visits the 3rd Monday of each month from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm in Miller County and from 1:30 pm -3:30 pm in Seminole County. This is a FREE service and does not require registration.
