On September 22, Georgia Public Library Service recognized Catherine Vanstone, Assistant Director for the Southwest Georgia Regional Library System, for her graduation from Florida's Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute (SSLLI). Mrs. Vanstone was one of two Georgia librarians recognized for her outstanding achievement. The SSLLI is a 10 month program that helps develop leadership skills so that librarians are better equipped for a long lasting career in the library field. The program also helps teach library leaders how to collaborate within the community, target library services to meet the needs of all people within a community, and increase the value of the library within the community. The Southwest Georgia Regional Library System is excited to see Mrs. Vanstone’s continued leadership efforts.

The human microbiomes : the germs that keep you healthy
by Rebecca E Hirsch
"This book explores the human microbiome--the trillions of microbes that share our bodies--and why it has become one of the hottest areas of research in human health. The book discusses the microbes that live on us and in us, how scientists study them, and how they relate to health issues such as infections, obesity, allergies, and autoimmune disorders. The book delves into the Human Microbiome Project (HMP), a US government/National Institutes of Health initiative launched in 2007, in which scientists are working to identify and study all of the microbes associated with human health and disease. The book also takes readers into stores to make informed choices about the many anti-microbial and probiotic products that line the shelves."
