Have you been to the Southwest Georgia Regional Library System's Facebook page recently? If not, you are missing out on some of the fun our staff have been having. Every Friday, we participate in #BookFaceFriday where we find book covers and finish the picture by using our faces, hands, or other items. We would love to get you involved, so when you come by for a visit, ask us how to participate! You can also post your own photos through Facebook and tag us by using #swgrl. Beginning computer classes for the month of October at the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library are full. Classes will be held Oct. 27-29 at 10 a.m. Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint for October is also full, and will be held Monday, October 19, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. Please contact us if you would like to be placed on the waiting list for either of the October classes. Beginning Computer Classes will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2015 through Thursday November 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. Please call the library at 229.248.2665 to reserve your spot for these classes as space is limited, and fill up quickly. There will be an Advanced Microsoft Word class at the Seminole County Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. To register for this class, contact us at 229-524-2665. Advanced Microsoft Word will also be available at the Miller County - James W. Merritt Jr. Memorial Library on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2015 at 10 a.m. To register for this class, contact us at 229-758-3131.

Book Clubs @ Your Library

The First Tuesday Book Club at the Miller County - James W. Merritt, Jr. Memorial Library will meet October 6, 2015 at 10 a.m., and will be discussing Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. The book for November is The Time Between by Karen White. To join the First Tuesday Book Club, contact the library at 229-758-3131 for future titles. The First Wednesday Book Club meets at the Seminole County Public Library on October 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. The book for October is Plum Orchard by June Hall McCash. The selection for November is The Painter by Peter Heller, and the chosen title for December is The Silent Wife by A. S. A. Harrison. Staff Spotlight: Kathy Hutchins If you have visited the Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services, chances are you have been welcomed with a warm smile and a friendly greeting from Supervisor, Kathy Hutchins. Mrs. Kathy has been serving the patrons of SWGLAS for 21 years, and is passionate about the services her program provides. Favorite part of her job: Helping people. Ms. Kathy reported that being able to provide books to those who might not otherwise have access is rewarding because she knows she has helped somebody. Likes to Read: Christian Fiction Mrs. Kathy also stated that her favorite books to read when she was a child were the Junior Biographies. She stated that the Bookmobile used to deliver straight to her house, and she would always check out all of the red biographies. Next time you visit the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Legos, Games, and Puzzles!

Allow your creative side to come out and play with Legos at the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library and the Seminole County Public Library every Tuesday at 4 p.m.! Puzzles and board games are also available at the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library. Children of all ages are welcome, and parents are encouraged to join in the fun!

Zoo Atlanta is holding its family Halloween program, Boo at the Zoo, on October 17, 18, 24, 25, and 31, and you could attend for free.check out a Zoo Atlanta DVD, take it home to watch, and return it to receive one family pass for the Atlanta Zoo. The passes are good for two adults and two children, and must be presented with your valid library card. Children under the age of 3 are free. The zoo pass must be used within 14 days.
